Chapter 9 Warranty and the Broken Promise

Warranties shouldn't be mysterious. When you finish reading Chapter 9, they won't be.

The basic lemon law issue is that in being unable to repair your car after a reasonable number of attempts, the warranty is breached.

What is an express warranty? It varies from manufacturer.

What is implied warranty? There are two kinds of implied warranty:
  • Implied Warranty of Merchantability
  • Implied Warranty of Fitness for a Particular Use

Read about these in Chapter 9. See if they might affect your lemon situation. When you buy a new car the warranty covers different parts of the vehicle for different periods of time:
  • bumper-to-bumper warranty
  • power train warranty
  • safety restraint system warranty
  • state and federal emissions warranties
  • sheet metal and corrosion warranty

Service Contracts [maintenance contracts] aren't the same as original warranties. Salesmen at the dealership seldom make this clear.

Find out exactly what a service contract is, and isn't in this chapter.

There are several different kinds. They certainly aren't all the same and it's important that you know the difference.

Do you know about the "Buyer's Guide"?

If you buy a used car you need to find out. This is where the dealer puts in writing whether you bought the vehicle "AS IS - NO WARRANTY" or with "WARRANTY".

Client Testimonials

"Thank you for everything

"The dealership kept shoving me out on a crutch, and wouldn't take me seriously without you. Complaining did nothing.

"Thanks for taking the hassle off my shoulders in dealing with my lemon. I barely have time to sleep, let alone deal with problems I shouldn't have to."
~Mike
