Lemon Laws cover defects that impair safety, value or use of the vehicle. Anything that makes a driver or passenger feel less secure can be a substantial impairment in safety, however, a vehicle with a defect, even a substantial defect, is not automatically a lemon.

Usually the manufacturer is entitled to a reasonable opportunity to repair the vehicle. The vehicle is a lemon only if the manufacturer fails to repair it. It is presumed that 4 repair attempts for the same defect is enough. Some states allow fewer attempts. Your only duty is to give the manufacturer an opportunity to repair, by bringing your car back to an authorized dealer.

All of your repair visits count, regardless of what the dealer does or does not do. For this reason it is very important that you keep every document for every visit where you have presented your vehicle for repair. This is your evidence. So what we want to know here is how many times you have brought your car in for repair to an authorized dealer for that same defect and then the same information for the next defect you might have.
